Partners Bill Cook and Andrew Konia and associate Mark Maier made a presentation to the Charlotte Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel on Nov. 2. Their presentation, "Data Security and Privacy," provided a high level analysis of the current rules, standards, laws and regulations impacting corporate data security and privacy policies, requirements and procedures. It also stressed the consequences of inadequate policies and noncompliance, as well as proactive measures companies can take to minimize the risk of costly security breaches.
With close to 50 outside counsel present, attendees included in-house counsel from Bank of America, Wells Fargo, SGL Carbon, TIAA-CREF, Lowe's, Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, Goodrich, Compass Group USA, Belk Inc., Rack Room Shoes, Family Dollar Store, Schaeffler Group, and more.
