Duo Discusses Benefits of Law Firm, E-Discovery Vendor Collaboration

January 11, 2017

Partner Anne McCray, co-chair of McGuireWoods’ electronic discovery practice, and counsel Cristin Traylor, who manages the firm’s Richmond E-Discovery Review Center, wrote a column published by LegalTech News discussing the advantages clients receive when their outside counsel and e-discovery vendor work together to provide cohesive e-discovery solutions.

In the Jan. 10 column, “Finding Middle Ground: Why Law Firms and E-Discovery Vendors Should Work Together,” the authors cite cost savings, a better work product, alternative pricing structures, the utilization of outside counsel and vendors’ core strengths, and integrated service as reasons to collaborate on e-discovery matters.

“As in litigation generally, there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to e-discovery,” they wrote. “The best thing lawyers can do for their clients is to evaluate each e-discovery matter on a case-by-case basis to see whether it should be handled by the law firm, a vendor, or a combination of both.”
