Law.com Interviews Wilmington Partner John Anderson on Hurricane Aftermath

September 27, 2018

McGuireWoods partner John Huske Anderson Jr. was interviewed by American Lawyer Media’s Law.com for a Sept. 25 article on how coastal North Carolina and South Carolina law firms weathered Hurricane Florence.

McGuireWoods closed its Wilmington office for a week after Florence marooned the city of 117,000, knocking out electricity and making flooded roads impassable. Some lawyers worked remotely as conditions permitted.

In the article, Anderson discussed riding out the storm in Wilmington and dealing with the aftermath, including eight inches of water on his house’s ground floor and a five-hour wait at a service station to purchase $50 worth of gasoline for his home generator.

“It’s been a surreal experience to see how the devastation can stop work in its tracks while the world outside Wilmington continues to move forward,” said Anderson, a partner in the firm’s financial services litigation practice.
