McGuireWoods’ Growing San Francisco Office Relocates to Two Embarcadero Center

February 22, 2017

McGuireWoods’ rapidly expanding San Francisco office has relocated to Two Embarcadero Center in the city’s Financial District. In less than a year, the firm’s 22nd office — and third in California, joining downtown Los Angeles and Century City — has grown to 30 lawyers and staff serving financial services litigation, FinTech, commercial litigation and corporate clients.

“We have built an exceptional team of lawyers with diverse litigation and corporate practices deeply rooted in this strategically important market,” said San Francisco office managing partner David Powell. “As we continue to grow, we are excited to establish our permanent home in the Bay Area, the epicenter for international businesses and technology companies.”

Last March, a group of nationally recognized class action and appellate lawyers joined McGuireWoods to launch the San Francisco office. The team strengthened the firm’s roster of elite litigators with deep experience representing clients in areas such as financial services, securities, and food and beverage litigation — especially in California and the 9th Circuit, known as class action litigation hotbeds.

The office’s partners include Powell, who focuses on commercial and financial services litigation as well as unfair competition and class actions; Carolee Hoover, who handles litigation related to mortgages and automobile, marine vessel and aircraft loans; Marc Lackner, former head of Bank of America’s mortgage litigation group; David Reidy, chair of the firm’s FinTech Industry Team; Alicia Baiardo, who litigates financial services, commercial, and trusts and estates disputes; and Lior Nuchi, who advises early-stage information technology and life sciences companies in cross-border transactions.
