McGuireWoods Moving New York Office To Larger Space in Midtown Manhattan

Firm Signs 15-Year Lease at 1251 Avenue of the Americas

February 14, 2018

McGuireWoods is relocating its growing New York office to 1251 Avenue of the Americas, a premier property a few blocks from the firm’s current location in midtown Manhattan.

Effective Feb. 19, the firm will occupy the 20th floor, totaling 41,900 square feet. The move gives McGuireWoods nearly 7,000 additional square feet for its current lawyers and staff and accommodates future growth. The firm signed a 15-year lease for the property in 2017.

The New York office has been essential to the strategic expansion of McGuireWoods’ capabilities for financial institution clients, with key additions to its government investigations and white collar litigation, broker-dealer and restructuring practices since 2016. The firm also added six New York lawyers to its global real estate practice in 2017.

McGuireWoods’ New York lawyers also handle commercial litigation, labor and employment, syndicated and asset-based lending, public finance, intellectual property and international trade.

“As we continue adding to our deep and talented team, this move enables us to meet the needs of the firm and our clients,” said Noreen Kelly, managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “At 1251 Avenue of the Americas, we look forward to creating an office space that reflects the firm’s increasing New York profile and presence.”

Mitsui Fudosan America Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Japan’s largest real estate company, owns the 54-story office tower, which incorporates the latest technology and design elements and meets U.S. Green Building Council standards for leadership in energy and environmental design.
