July 4, 2018

Renewable Energy World has recognized McGuireWoods partner Becky Diffen on its inaugural “Solar 40 Under 40” list of solar industry professionals with unparalleled accomplishments. Winners are featured in the publication’s July 3 issue and will be honored at the Intersolar North America conference on July 10.

“I am honored to be recognized among this remarkable group of professionals who have influenced and advanced the U.S. solar industry,” said Diffen, a member of McGuireWoods’ energy industry team in Austin.

Diffen is an accomplished transactional lawyer who represents developers, private equity firms, investment banks, and other public and private companies in project development, M&A, and project finance matters across the renewable energy and energy storage industries. She previously worked as a utility-scale wind developer before graduating from the University of Texas School of Law, where she now teaches a seminar on electric power and renewable energy law.

Diffen co‑authored “Wind Law,” a first-of-its-kind legal treatise covering environmental, siting and regulatory issues, federal and state incentives, and litigation and transactional topics relevant to the renewable energy industry. She co‑founded the Texas Energy Law Association alumni organization at her alma mater and co‑chairs the Austin chapter of Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE), a nonprofit that promotes the education, professional development and advancement of women in the renewable energy industry. She recently was honored by Austin Under 40 in the Engineering, Energy, Mobility and Systems Sciences category, and by Chambers USA.

McGuireWoods’ energy industry team earned six nationwide rankings in the 2018 edition of The Legal 500 United States, including recognition for its work in the renewable and alternative energy sector.
