McGuireWoods Ranks No. 1 in the World for Advising Lenders in Syndicated Loans

Firm Places Second for U.S. Deals in League Tables

McGuireWoods ranked No. 1 worldwide for deal count and No. 2 for proceeds for advising lenders in syndicated loans through the first nine months of 2019, delivering another dominant performance in league tables published by Refinitiv. The firm advised lenders on 185 deals valued at $174.6 billion during the first three quarters of the year.

The firm ranked No. 2 for deal count and No. 4 in proceeds for representing lenders in U.S. syndicated loans, with 133 deals valued at $120.6 billion. McGuireWoods also ranked highly representing borrowers in syndicated loans, placing No. 11 in deal count for U.S. transactions and No. 12 for worldwide deals.

In addition, the firm earned top five rankings for representing lead banks and borrowers in leveraged loans in league tables published by the market intelligence service Debtwire. McGuireWoods ranked No. 3 for advising lead banks in North America leveraged loans and M&A leveraged loans. The firm was No. 2 for representing lead banks and No. 4 for advising borrowers in U.S. middle market loans.

McGuireWoods also earned top five rankings for advising lead banks in leveraged loans in the energy, healthcare, retail and technology sectors, demonstrating the strength of the firm’s industry-focused approach to client service.

Recent notable transactions include representing Bank of America in a $4 billion revolving credit facility for Netherlands-based Lyondellbasell Industries N.V. and LYB Americas Finance; and Wells Fargo Securities LLC in a $1.4 billion incremental term financing for Gray Television Inc., which helped fund Gray’s purchase of Raycom Media Inc. The firm also advised Teledyne Technologies Inc. as borrower in the company’s $750 million credit facility.
