Corporate Counsel Rate McGuireWoods Among Client Service Elite for 15th Time

Firm Earns No. 6 Ranking on BTI Consulting’s ‘A-Team’

March 25, 2021

McGuireWoods once again ranked among the elite law firms for client service and was lauded as “Best of the Best” for attributes most important to corporate counsel in BTI Consulting’s 2021 “Client Service A-Team” report.

McGuireWoods ranked No. 6 overall, marking the 15th time the firm has ranked among the top 30 in BTI’s annual survey of law firm performance — the gold standard for measuring client service excellence. The report is based on feedback from top legal decision makers at companies with revenue of $700 million or more.

McGuireWoods was one of only two firms rated “Best of the Best” in all four activities that clients consider most important — commitment to help, client focus, understanding the client’s business and providing value for the dollar. In addition, the firm was rated a “leader” in client service activities that became more important than ever to clients during the COVID-19 pandemic — mobilizing resources, fielding the absolute best team and quickly assessing the client’s situation.

“Clients tell BTI McGuireWoods homes in on their individual needs and does an excellent job anticipating their needs and then advising on their business issues,” the BTI report states. “The firm is a longtime user of client feedback and is always looking at the market and clients in new ways — revealing new ideas for servicing clients.”

In interviews with BTI researchers, clients praised McGuireWoods for its commitment to providing superior service.

“McGuireWoods is very proactive and capable, and tremendous at transparency,” one client said.

McGuireWoods managing partner J. Tracy Walker IV said the recognition from BTI underscores the firm’s efforts to help clients navigate challenges during the pandemic.

“Now more than ever, our clients depend on us to understand their businesses and efficiently solve their legal issues,” Walker said. “We are proud of the way our lawyers stepped up over the past year and we are grateful for our clients’ support.”

BTI’s findings are based on in-depth interviews with more than 350 top legal decision makers between Feb. 19, 2020, and Jan. 19, 2021. The top-rated firms comprise BTI’s “Client Service 30.”
