Associates Keola Whittaker and Jonathan Urick spoke at this event on a CLE panel entitled “Slants, Redskins, Credit Cards and Wedding Cakes: First Amendment Limits on Regulation of Business Speech.” Keola’s presentation focused on trademark law and the implications of the Supreme Court’s decision in Matal v. Tam.  Jonathan’s presentation. Jonathan’s presentation focused on state credit card surcharge bans and the implications of the Court’s decision in Expressions Hair Design v. Schneiderman for other laws regulating pricing-related speech, including Virginia’s happy hour regulations.  Jonathan also discussed the Supreme Court’s pending decisions regarding the constitutionality of partisan gerrymandering.
