The New York Times quoted McGuireWoods partner Dion Hayes in a Nov. 14 story examining why many corporations choose to file for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Richmond, Va.
The story notes that Richmond’s bankruptcy court has a so-called rocket docket that moves cases along quickly. Hayes, the firm’s deputy managing partner for litigation and former chair of the Restructuring & Insolvency Department, explained that the Richmond court’s two judges also are known for their expertise.
“The judges understand the complexities of large corporate bankruptcies and can handle cases expeditiously,” Hayes said.
